A 7 week summer placement where students in Grade 10 and 11 in NL can start their apprentice journey.
Full time students in Grade 10 & 11 in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Available job positions for 2026 will be posted on our website for various regions of the province as of March 2026. Eligible students can apply for jobs of interest available to them in their region. Successful applicants will be notified in May with next steps and details of employer match. Position will start as of June 2026.
This will be dependent on industry availability for 2026, but in most cases it will be in areas such as plumbing, carpentry, welding, electrical, automotive. The number of jobs in each specfic trade will vary by region.
No, experience is not a prerequisite. The goal of the program is to encourage youth to try the trades, any student that is interested should apply!
During the program, each apprentice will be supported in various ways. Whether it be through Department of Apprenticeship, their Employer, YASP Professional Development contacts etc.
