INTERMEDIATE CHALLENGE


The Skills Canada Intermediate Challenge presents a friendly competitive atmosphere where students in grades 7 to 9 can showcase their abilities in fields of Graphic Design, 2D/3D Animation, Hairstyling, Cooking Photography, Public Speaking, Robotics and more.  

Alongside its 16 competition areas, the Skills Canada Intermediate Challenge will also present a variety of different hands-on Try-A-Trade demonstrations for parents, students and educators attending followed by an Awards Ceremony in which gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded to top winners.

Competitions for SCIC include: Job Skill Demonstration, Job Search, Graphic Design, Photography, TV/Video Production, Public Speaking, The Pitch, Workplace Safety, FIRST Lego League Robotics. SCIC will be taking place during National Skilled Trades and Technology Week (November 1-8, 2020), and we invite all intermediate students grades 7-10 to showcase their skills in our virtual competition space.

Registration is free and we encourage all students to participate in SCNL's very first virtual intermediate challenge.

In most competition areas, the gold medal winners at the Skills Canada Intermediate Challenge are invited to the Skills Canada Provincial Competition where they compete against high school students for the opportunity to represent Newfoundland and Labrador nationally at the annual Skills Canada National Competition. 

This past year's annual Skills Canada Intermediate Challenge was held on Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 at the College of the North Atlantic, Prince Philip Drive Campus. Over 350 students from 30 junior high schools across the province competed in 17 skilled areas. View the results here!
