Our Mission Statement

Skills Canada Newfoundland and Labrador is a non-profit organization that encourages youth to explore the growing opportunities in skilled trades and technology careers by offering an immersive approach to learning. 

Our Goals

  • To raise awareness of skilled trades and technologies by bringing youth into a competitive spotlight
  • To improve competencies, self esteem and the achievement level of individuals pursuing careers in skilled trades and technologies

Our Initiatives

  • To educate and encourage young Canadians to develop skills that address labour shortages and support Canada's economic well-being.

Annual Skilled Career Day Cancellation


The health and safety of students, volunteers, supporters and staff is the top priority for Skills Canada Newfoundland and Labrador. In light of the global and national spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Skilled Career Day and Provincial Competitions scheduled for Friday, March 20th is cancelled.

In accordance with the most recent updates on COVID-19, the staff of Skills Canada Newfoundland and Labrador will be working remotely as of Wednesday, March 18 but will continue to explore and develop programming and online activities for parents and students. Intermediate Challenge

The Skills Canada Intermediate Challenge presents a friendly competitive atmosphere where students in grades 7 to 9 can showcase their abilities in fields of Graphic Design, 2D/3D Animation, Hairstyling, Cooking Photography, Public Speaking, Robotics and more

Provincial Competition

Skilled trade, technology and employability competitions for secondary and post-secondary students and apprentices. Most provincial competitions occur during our biggest event of the year, Annual Skilled Career Day.

National Competition

Most Provincial Gold Medalists advance to represent Team Newfoundland *nationally* at the Skills Canada National Competition

World Skills International

We inspire young people to develop a passion for skills and pursuing excellence, through competitions and promotions.
